The best time to go beach combing is at dawn after a storm. The nocturnal waves and tides have pushed hours worth of flotsam and jetsam onto the shore, and you can find treasures as the sun breaks the horizon, bathing the sands in golden light. A stroll along the breaking waves brings all sorts of interesting things – broken shells, jellyfish, driftwood and kelp, and with them comes peace, joy and wonder in the calm of the early hours.
