wp – sunshine on water

Description

This piece was inspired by a recent family trip to the gulf shore of Alabama where the sunsets are amazing – probably for sunrises too but I honestly didn’t see any of them!   The water there is the loveliest turquoise, and for a fleeting few magical minutes in the evening you can see both that daytime turquoise and the deepening grey of the nighttime water, all while the shallow angle of the sun’s rays make them skip across the waves like gold coins flashing in a fountain.

The 5 inch frame for this piece was thrown on a pottery wheel in speckled clay and then glazed in a slate colored glaze.   The fibers in the weaving include nylon, and cotton.   The beads are glass and cultured pearls.
