becoming something beautiful or functional,
starting with an idea and becoming something that will stand the test of time.

mars
7 months and 293 million miles later, Perseverance recently landed on the 4th planet from our sun. I am equally fascinated by the human ingenuity that it took to make that happen and the scenery and sounds that are beaming back to us. Mars was named for the Roman god...
sea storm
This string art piece was inspired, as so many of my pieces are, by water. This time I was thinking of the colors of the ocean on a stormy evening. Ominous clouds are looming over layers of crashing waves while the spray from the surf makes the air taste of salt. If...
midnight waters
I've never been skinny dipping. Not because I never wanted to, but because I never really had an opportunity that seemed right. Maybe Hollywood has ruined it for me, but I feel that it's the sort of thing that needs the right setting. Night-time for sure. A moon of...
washington
Call me crazy but I've had politics on my mind a lot recently. These last few months have really made me think about what it means to be presidential. Things have happened in Washington DC that I never imagined I'd see, in a city named after the first man to have that...

Pottery allows me to put something of myself out into the world. As an introvert, I find this is the best way of expressing myself. I’ve been inspired greatly by my parents, both creative in their own ways. I was constantly encouraged to share my creativity with others.
Artist, artisan, handcrafter, craftsman, each word evokes a different sentiment and a different feeling. Quality differences, intentional differences, interpretational differences. I’m not sure I would consider myself an artist. I’m not a crafter either. I’m a potter. However, now that I’m including other materials, even potter feels limiting. When you see yourself differently, you act, think and behave differently.
It’s a compulsion for me at this point. I have ideas – many ideas – and I am driven to make each of them a reality.
