This piece was made to honor Greta Thunberg being named Time’s Person of the Year for 2019. The frame, a simple no-frills structure, has been woven with clean and bright colors to call to mind the environment that she is so passionate about. The rose and freshwater pearl beads evoke the land and sea while also adding a youthful and feminine touch to the piece. The circle is both the earth and the cyclical nature of the seasons, and our inability to escape the consequences of what we do – they will always come around to meet us. Too heavy? I was also trying for pretty!
