I didn’t have a story for this piece as I was weaving it, other than to play with my favorite color – green. The beading for the center is my most ambitious yet, with 49 warp spokes it took a lot of planning to get the beads placed correctly in order to get the spiral correct, and even then I had to backtrack 3 times as I discovered mistakes. I had to overcome a lot of frustration with myself and buckle down in order to not give up on it, and I’m so glad I did because I love the way it turned out!
Waking up this morning to find the world filled with bright white snow, contrasting with black branches and hints of evergreen from the magnolia leaves and hemlocks just seemed to be the perfect echo for this piece. Is it coincidence, fate, or am I just looking for pattern and connection? Whatever the cause, it’s made me happy today!
