wp – la vie en rose
For the first time I’ve made a piece based on a song. It’s been going in and out of my mind for a few days and lingered long enough to influence my color choices. The song is La Vie en Rose by Edith Piaf. I don’t speak french but I understand that the title is about looking at the world through rose colored glasses – to see it with charm and happiness, all pink and new and exciting. I frequently feel this way around the new year, feeling a fresh start and renewed interest in things – primarily from my New Year’s resolutions that have yet to fall by the wayside!
I’ve also swung from one extreme to another, having recently made the largest piece to date at 18 inches, to this little charmer coming in at just under 7 inches across. I started it thinking that it would be a breeze after taking on one so much larger but quickly learned that small does not equate to easy! The limited working space created it’s own challenges , making some of the work dis-proportionally harder and more time consuming.
